South East Club - December News

South-East had a brilliant qualifying calf show at Edenbridge and Oxted show, with a decent turn out of high-quality calves. It was lovely to see everyone out again and such a great atmosphere after such a long break. A huge congratulations goes to Merrie Newham, who won Interbreed champion with her homebred third calver, McCuchen Flossie.

The calf show kicked off with handlers, and 2 brilliant little novice handlers who the judge couldn’t split, so Beatrice Hamilton, from the Plurenden Herd, and Sky Elmes-Houston both won the novice handlers! Plurenden also got second in the junior handler with Alice Hamilton, with Alfie Dyer winning the class.  All these younger handlers have a super bright future in the show ring to come!

Our intermediate handler was won by Eve Harding, from the Willjoy Herd. Our senior handlers were won by Robyn Moody, who went on to come Honourable mention, with Archie Reynolds, both showing on behalf of Designer Holsteins, coming second. Georgina Moody, from Designer Holsteins, won our mature handlers, who went on to win Champion Handler and Interbreed champion handler, and Holly Dyer came second and Reserve Champion. It was a super impressive display of handling by all and we look forward to seeing how our handlers get on at the ABAB.

We also had a marvellous display of calves in the calf classes, with the youngest class being won by Designer Unstoppabull Elegance, going on to win honourable mention. Designer Brady Alicia won the February-March21 class. Tregibby Jordy Tabitha was first in the December-January class, and was reserve champion, all 3 of these calves were exhibited by Designer Holsteins. Willjoy Conan Geranium Red 18 won the October-November and Reserve champion Red and white from F W Hamlyn and Son. Holben Racey won the August-September class and went on to win Champion calf, Huge congratulations to Holly and Ben Dyer from Holben Holsteins for breeding and exhibiting this smashing heifer. June-July class was won by Panda Unique Cheerleader Red, who also won champion Red and White, exhibited by Designer Holsteins. Designer Holsteins also won the April-May class with Designer Crushabull Adrienne.

Huge Well Done to all the exhibitors and a huge good luck to the young member team for the ABAB Calf show. The South East Club would also like to say a massive thank you to Richard Thomas, from Churchvale Holsteins, for coming all the way from Wales to judge both days of Edenbridge show.

Now the world is beginning to relax we look forward to continuing with herd competitions and herd visits!
