North Eastern

The North Eastern Holstein Club covers a large area including areas of Yorkshire, County Durham, and Cleveland. This gives us a wide and diverse range of countryside and resulting challenges.

The Club has been in operation for over 70 years and continues to thrive with a membership of around 60.  The club is run by an enthusiastic and hard-working committee to provide a range of competitions and social events, at both local and national level. We hold a yearly Young Stock Competition, a Herd Competition which includes a wide range of opportunities within its 14 classes, and later in the year our Winter Classic competition.  Our busy social calendar starts with our Dinner and Awards Evening, when we celebrate the successes and achievements of all our local herds.   A very popular Breeders Panel Meeting is always well attended, where after a meal members listen to a panel invited from a diverse range of dairy farming enterprises and the ensuing question and answer session always provides much interest, amusement and discussion.  During the summer an Evening Farm visit is held, as well as a full day visit when we usually travel out of our area to visit two host farms.  Our summer BBQ is followed by two evening meetings during Autumn when we meet for a meal before listening to a guest speaker.

We have an active HYB club who participate in the Weekend Rally/ Competition Day and are well represented at the National Calf show.  Several members sit on the Senior Committee, not only to input their ideas and opinions, but also a learning platform for their own, and our HYB’s, future development.  During the year the Club arrange Junior Judging and Linear Assessment evenings where our HYB members are joined by senior members, when they have the opportunity to develop their skills with the help of the attending judges.

New members are always welcome, please contact the secretary or any member of the club.
