North Wales Holstein Club Herd Competition 2019
The Annual Club Herd Competitions once again proved successful with many entrants competing for first time , in particular it is great to see so many “ first generation “ Dairy Producers amongst the Winners !
The Annual Presentation Dinner at “ The Royal Oak ” Betws y Coed held on 4th October , was a huge success and the Club were delighted that HUK President Mr Bryan Thomas of Gelliddu Holsteind wasable to joint them at the evening .
The two Judges Mr Eifion Jones and Mr Somon Dowle praised the quality of exhibitors and thoroughly enjoyed their visits to North Wales .
Notable amongst the prize winners J Wilkinsons & Son Pendyffryn who won the Champion Herd together with Novice AShield Winner Gwion Owen Graiglwyd who came third in a very competitive Small Herd Section . Gwion is to be commended as he only registered his prefix in the last five years , emphasising the vision of the Clubs Founders .

Held at Morgan Evans Auction Centre Gaerwen on 31st August 2019 the 22nd Annual North Wales Holstein HYB Calf Show was a resounding success . With over 20 youngsters from age three to 26 taking part the largest proportion in the under 12 Class the future looks safe for years to come.
With Mr Oggie Smith presiding as Judge, the proceedings commenced with the handling classes as the youngsters demonstrated their skills in showing calves with many taking part for the first time .

Notable that several of the youngsters forward from Fferam having just registered with HUK during the last few weeks , with Sling and Graiglwyd prefixes during the past two years .Of the eight Herd entered six being registered by HYB Members a tremendous legacy to the vision of Club founders back in 1996 , which enables North Wales Youngsters to partake in competitions both locally and National level .
Gwen Jones Mon Holsteins winning Champion Showperson with Ffion Davies as reserve with Tom Wyn Davies Honourable Mention , this keeping the tradition of Cefn Coch family who have provided Showmanship Champions on numerous occasions at the Clubs Calf Shows since it`s beginnings at Ruthin in 1996 .
The class winners now qualifying for the All Breeds All Britain Calf Show held at East of England Showgroung Peterborogh Friday 18th – Sunday 20th October .
The Calf Classes also provided outstanding examples of the optimisum and tenacity of youth , with a calf born prematurely nurtured and nursed in the “ garage “ by elleven year old Elliw Roberts of Fferam y Llan Llangristiolous Bodorgan , going on to win the Champion Calf . Judge Mr Oggie Smith praising the style and dairy character of her winning Calf , the Roberts family , no strangers to winning have on several occasions come first with their Herd in the Gwynedd Milk Record Competition .
