North Eastern Diary of Events

We started our HYB diary of events in March with Rebecca Jarvis giving our young members a linear and stock judging demonstration ready for the upcoming judging nights. Thanks to Rebecca for passing on her wisdom and to James and Richard Pratt for hosting and providing us with a few cows to judge. 

Our young members then enjoyed a fantastic clipping demonstration by Matt Williamson from the Border and Lakeland Club on Easter Saturday. Many questions were fired at Matt throughout the demonstration who did a brilliant job of answering every one! He gave everyone his top tips and showed us his range of clippers and blades he uses depending on the part of the calf he is clipping. Thanks must go to Matt for sharing his experience and knowledge, to James Robinson for providing a calf to clip, Jenny and Lenny Bowes for allowing us to use their farm and to Val Robinson for providing lunch. 

The cold miserable weather on the May Bank Holiday didn’t dampen our Young Members spirits as they all competed at our annual Show Day competition at Leyburn Auction Mart, even when the rain turned torrential 10 minutes into the washing section! Well done to everyone, you all did a fantastic job!

A big thank you to Sarah Liddle for organising the day and to Leyburn Auction Mart for allowing us to use the Mart.

Our junior judging and linear nights have also taken place during April, May and June.

Also, thanks to our two junior Judging hosts Phil Robinson and family for hosting the first judging night and Alan Goldie and family for hosting the second night. They both gave us two nights of fantastic cows to judge that were a credit to both herds. 

Thanks to our two master judges Jane Steel and Martin Bristol for coming to judge for us.
