Lancashire Club - December News

We recently held our Calf Show, organised by our Young Members, kindly judged by Mr Richard Armstrong of the Wolfa herd and held by kind permission at the N.W.Auctions site near J36 of the M6.

We watched a very strong show of both calves and handlers and wish them well at the All Britain All Breeds Calf Show. Of course, the results will be known by the publication of This Journal.

The Overall Champion handler was Rosie Dennison and the Overall Champion calf was The Woodhouse's Shoreline King Doc Helen.

Congratulations to our HYB team members achievements at The National Competitions Day in August when Tom Sanderson was 2nd in Junior Linear and he, along with Thomas Herd, were 2nd Junior team for Linear Judging. Also, congratulations to Tom Hull who was 2nd in Senior Stock judging with his set of reasons achieving Best Set of Reasons Overall. Very well done to all the team many of whom were first time participants!!

We would like to Congratulate The Burrow family of The Stardale Herd on winning the Northern Herds section of the HUK Premier Herd competition and then coming reserve overall to the Davies family with their Davlea Herd. Sending Congratulations to them also.  The Stardale Herd has won the Lancashire Premier herd title on many occasions and it was good to see them so well placed this year!!

The previous winners, The Wright family from Berryholme Holsteins, were finally able to hold their Open Day on a gloriously hot July day. Hundreds came from all over the UK and looked over some stupendous cattle in beautiful surroundings. Well done to them all for coping with the very hot weather conditions.

That's all for now.
