The Western Holstein Club has had another busy summer, it has been very encouraging for the club to see a number of new members joining to either take part in competitions and/or exhibit at events.

HYB Training Day – 22nd July 2023
Riverdane Holsteins kindly hosted the Western HYB Training Day, HYB members had an informative, busy, hands-on day, they spent the morning learning and brushing up their showing skills. The day’s activities included washing calves, followed by showmanship and clipping demonstrations before participants put into practice what they had learnt, it was great to see such enthusiastic HYB members in attendance having fun whilst enjoying the learning experience. It put them all in good stead for the Club Calf Show in September.
Club Show in Combination With Nantwich Show – 26th July 2023
The Western Holstein Club and The Nantwich Show Cattle committee combined forces for the first time in 2023 to host a Club Show in conjunction with Nantwich Show, a sizeable entry came forward, it was encouraging to see so many youngsters taking part, luckily the weather was very kind to the show on the day with the rain staying away until the Judging finished.

Riverdane - Theatre of Dreams Sale – 19th August 2023
Club Members Riverdane Holsteins held their long awaited “Theatre of Dreams Sale” in August, where they auctioned 148 first class Holsteins, a top price of 90,000gns was achieved for Riverdane KD Hannah this was an equal top price for a Holstein in the UK. The sale averaged £5,543.12 which is £1,000 ahead of any other UK sale for a single breeder, what a fantastic achievement and a well-deserved result for Mark, Susan & Jodie Nutsford and their team.
Riverdane Holsteins also had further success at UK Dairy Day by taking the Heifer Championship with Riverdane Tatoo Ambrosia.
Western Club Calf Show 2023 – September 23rd
HYB Co-Ordinators, Bethan Greenhalgh and Lizzy Mercer organised a terrific day, the Club Calf Show was hosted at the same venue as 2022 by kind permission of Wilf & Pam Lomas, an extensive entry of both Calves and Handlers made it a very competitive day.
