Edition 3 - 2023 - Western

Mr John Eardley was the Judge for the Western Holstein Clubs Top Ten Herd competition kindly sponsored by Semex and took place in March 2023, another good entry of top-quality herds kept John busy with judging taking place over three days.

The Top Ten results and presentations were given out at the Western Holstein Clubs AGM, where also the Western Club HYB members presented a cheque to the “The Christie Cancer Charity” for £3,922, these proceeds were raised and a fund-raising event in 2022 in memory of former Chairlady and big HYB supporter Tanya Winstanley. There will also be an award presented at Nantwich Show for Champion Holstein Handler in memory of Tanya.

Two very successful Stock Judging Nights took place in June the first night was kindly hosted by A L Moore & Partners (Danevalley Holsteins) with Master Judge Mr Brent Crothers with over 125 competitors on the night it was a huge success. The second night was a combined night with both the Shropshire and Staffordshire clubs and hosted by Mr Mark Whitehurst (Folemill Holsteins) the Judge was Mr Hefyn Wilson the quality of the animals in all the classes on both evenings were fantastic, and a credit to both hosts.

1st place - Best Dairy Calf 9-12m & Reserve Champion Calf with “Danevalley Chief Honesty”
Charlotte Moore was placed 3rd in Handlers Class

David Rees Farms “Dalebank Holsteins” results from Royal Cheshire County Show were: -

1st Place – Junior Heifer in Milk - “Dalebank Dalliance Roxy” then went on to win:-
Champion Interbreed Dairy Heifer; Best Exhibitor Interbreed Dairy Heifer; Cheshire’s Best Dairy Bred Heifer.  Other successes: -
2nd Place – 3rd Calver Class – “Dalebank Allstar Promise”
4th Place – 3rd Calver Class – “Ansavalley Silver Artes”.

Cub Members Hennikers Holsteins, Trevor Warren and family went away with following results at The Royal Cheshire County Show
3rd Place – 3rd Claver Class – “Bentleyford Padawan Laurie”
2nd Place – Senior Interbreed Calf Class – “Hennikers Showtime Sky Hope”
Also Bred the 1st place – Junior Interbreed Calf owned by Andrew Ollier – “Hennikers Whirlwind Holde”.
