Edition 1 - 2024 - Staffordshire

The Staffordshire team attended the ABAB in October with a full team of handlers and calves. Many of the handlers had not attended before which is encouraging and are keen to go again.

The calves did very well with 5 out of the 9 being placed in the top 8, and out of the number of outstanding calves being shown, a credit to our Staffordshire Breeders, A few highlighted results detailed below: -

Baby Calf - Chasmar Rubels Silkie (Chasmar) placed 8th

Junior Calf - Drointon Chief Elegance 2 (Drointon) placed 8th

Intermediate Calf - Chasmar Drointon Oakfield Chief Flo (Chasmar, Drointon, Oakfield) placed 8th

Senior Calf - Chasmar Rubels Ann 380 (Chasmar) placed 8th

Red & White - Folemill Fitz Shamrock 4 Red (Folemill) placed 2nd

Well done to the team for those outstanding results and especially to Mark for his incredible 2nd place, and a credit to him. It is very rewarding when Mark’s commitment to the club and the industry is recognised at this level.

Preparation is underway for the Winter Herd Competition in January 2024 and the Club welcomes Matthew Winter from the Corringham herd.

The club had a Christmas social and were pleased to present Lizzie Bradley the Staffordshire HYB Club award for her support to the HYB and the senior club.

The Peter Appleby Award for outstanding commitment and support to the club was presented to Matthew Weaver, our Vice-Chairman. Matthew has supported the club in hosting, training, securing the use of the prestigious facility of Staffordshire Showground for our calf show. Not only does he support the Holstein society, but an advocate to the industry of Dairy and Beef with encouraging younger members to take part and enhance their own skills within the showing scene.
