Cornwall's 2019

The last few months of 2019 were busy for the Cornwall Club – and we’re looking forward to the New Year with plans for a variety of exciting events over the next 12 months.

The HYB team who attended the ABAB calf show – William Neale, Harry Neale, Matthew Rowland, Steven Harris and Cari Thomas – did the Club proud.

Steven, Matthew and William represented us well in their showmanship classes. All seven calves were turned out to perfection and there were some great result:

Steven Harris – 8th Mature Showman

Racewood Barbican Rosalie – 10th February Calf
Cloubdreak Solomon Rikki – 15th October Calf
Wiltor Diamondback Jodie 2 – 5th August Calf

Racewood Fitz Erle – 3rd August Calf

Steven Harris – Joint 1st HYB Stock-judging

Steven Harris also had a great time representing the UK in Cremona at The Open Junior Show. He came third in Senior Clipping, second in Senior Showmanship and third in Stock-judging. As a result he was overall senior winner – and second overall.

After the rip-roaring success of the 2019 Mole Valley On-Farm Challenge, the Cornwall Holstein Club has reaped the awards of changing the traditional evening show format once again with an amazing 118 entries from 26 exhibitors.

Judge for this year’s proceedings was Mr Peter Prior of the Designer herd. An ex-classifier and experienced cow man, he has had numerous high-profile judging appointments as well as show-ring successes He was tremendously impressed with the overall quality, noting that many fantastic cows didn’t make it to the top five due to the high standard.

Thank you must go to all class sponsors, as well as Kernow Farm and Equine who sponsored the sweet treats for the night. But an even bigger thank you must go to Mole Valley, our headline sponsors, and Lynden Bustard and Dawn Coryn for their work in the run-up to the event.
