HYB member raising funds for Marie Curie

Holstein Young Breeders’ Club member Tom McKnight from Lisburn is fundraising for Marie Curie.

Following the Holstein judging at last week’s 150thBalmoral Show, Tom opted to get his head shaved for charity, and enlisted the help of international cattle fitter and clipper Mark Henry from Stranocum.

So far more than £1,000 has been raised for Marie Curie. Tom is fundraising for the charity in support of his grandfather who has recently received treatment for Cancer.

The fourteen-year-old Saintfield High School pupil has been a member of the Northern Ireland Holstein Young Breeders’ Club for more than five years, and is a regularly seen in the showring exhibiting animals from the Lisburn-based Lissue, Damm and Cairnrock Herds.

Tom is a keen stockman and judge, and has represented Northern Ireland at national events, including the All-Britain All-Breeds Calf Show in Malvern, and Holstein UK’s National Competitions Day.

HYB co-ordinator Lezia Montgomery is very proud of Tom’s achievements, and has set up a Just Giving page to further enhance his fund raising efforts.
