South and Wiltshire Club - News and Winter herd Competition Results

February welcomed the return of our Winter Herd Competition, with eight herds entered over the four classes.

The AGM was hosted by Club President Nicci Chamberlin, who thanked all the members for their continued support. The Club Committee elections saw new officers elected – Chairman Nick Clarke (Westleaze), Vice Chairman Alan Gregory (Boxbrook) and Committee member Miss Katie Evans. HYB Presentations were made to Junior Member Jasmine Well, Senior Member, George Gregory and Chairman’s Choice Katie Evans. 


The Len Smith Grand Prix Trophy was presented for the most points awarded over the year in all club competitions to – Champion: Withamhall, H and H Miles; Reserve Champion: Rockhaye Holsteins, L Birkbeck; Honourable Mention: Boxbrook Holsteins, A Gregory. The evening finished with a raffle and fish-and-chip supper. 


The Club Dinner was attended by 72 members – at which we finally managed to celebrate South and Wiltshire Club member Tom White’s 100th birthday together. 


A busy calendar includes a herd visit to Hann Farming of Frome, Stockjudging at Westleaze Holsteins with Master Judge David Jones and our annual summer herd competition in July.
