North Wales Holstein Club - October News

"Yma o hyd"

"Still here" 25 years on from the first YMA Calf show at Ruthin Market the North Wales Holstein Club returned to the same venue in the splendour of the Vale of Clwyd. With entries in every class , the largest class being in the Showmanship with the youngest entry Awen Williams ( Blaengar ) at just over three years of age .Lois Williams also from Blaengar coming a close second in the Junior Section . New HYB Members Tilley and Wil Booth also enjoying the “ buzz “ of competing at their first calf show. The record of Williams family of Cefn Coch continuing with a “ clean sweep “ in Showmanship classes with Corey Potter emulating his motherʼs win at Ruthin back in 1999 by claiming Champion Handler . Junior handler William Francis , Ffion Davies and Gwen Jones winning Senior and Mature classes respectively.

Dafydd & Ynyr Jones of Penbryn Llan Llanrhaeadr DC also enjoying the day claiming 3 Class winners and Reserve Champion in Calf Classes . Other calf show stalwarts the Williams Family of Clwch Dernog enjoying class winners in calf classes whilst the young handlers epitomises the families enthusiasm and commitment to the Holstein. Cefn Coch emulating their succes with Showmanship through gaining four class winners including Calf Champion with their Red calf catching the Judges eye with an Honourable Mention.

The club is grateful to Judge Andrew Jones Rossett for encouraging the youngsters throughout the proceedings with guidance and advice . Particular thanks to Emma Cox who organised the day not forgetting the sponsors and Glyn Owens of Ruthin Matket for making it a memorable day for all .
