On Wednesday 29th June, members of Holstein UK were able to come together in Scotland for the first in-person Annual General Meeting (AGM) since 2019. During the AGM, the Society was pleased to elect two new members to the Board of Trustees whilst offering a fond farewell to retiring representatives.
David Jones (West Midlands) stood down from the Board having completed his second term and David Yates (Scotland South) stood down after completing his first term. Following the end of his first term on the Board, Stephen Hill was re-elected for another term of four years.
Holstein UK Chairman Michael Smale commented “I would like to thank both David and David for their contribution to the Society during their time on the Board. The time and knowledge they have both given has been instrumental in driving the Society forward and they have been fantastic advocates for both Holstein UK and the breed.
Holstein UK welcomes Claire Jones and Jimmie Baillie to the Board to represent the West Midlands and Scotland South regions respectively.
Claire Jones (Wiltor) - West Midlands region
Having previously competed in YMA, Claire has been an active member of Holstein UK for over 30 years and she hopes to bring new ideas to the Society in order to attract new members and retain the current membership. Claire’s focus is also on adding value to being pedigree and making full use of the Society’s services. Claire runs the Wiltor herd along with her husband David and son Matthew where they are passionate about being pedigree with an emphasis on also being commercial.
Jimmie Baillie (Dalserf) - Scotland South region
Jimmie joins the Board of Trustees to represent the Scottish Club members and looks forward to briefing prospective members on the benefits of becoming a member of the Society. Additionally, Jimmie would like to further promote the services provided by the Cattle Information Service, along with the value of classification and the benefits of being pedigree. Jimmie manages his 250-head herd with his wife Isabel and two sons James and Gavin in South Lanarkshire.
