Great start to 2020 for Central Counties

Central Counties have had a lovely start to 2020, especially with it being our 70th anniversary year!

To start our year, the club had their AGM and Guest Speaker Evening where we were very fortunate to have Tom Lomas (TLC) as our guest speaker. Tom gave an insight in to his life background, careers and showing successes over the last few years. He also talked to us about the Perfection Collection Sale 2020. The club were very grateful for him to give up his evening to come and speak to us and would like to pass our thanks on to Tom.

As part of the evening, we also celebrated the results of our Club Herd Competition 2019. We had a group of 5 very strong herds which were judged by Tom and as our guest speaker, he was able to present the awards. Tom said that he always felt the East of England was Holsteins’ best kept secret. The standard was so very high even though the amount of farms has reduced over the years. The placings were very close and sometimes there was nothing in them. Congratulations to all of our winners, particularly AG Burton for being our overall winners. Below are the winners of each category:

Overall Best Herd based on Production and Inspection (Overall Challenge Cup) - AG Burton

We were also able to enjoy a fantastic 70th Anniversary Celebration Lunch in March where a whole host of current and past club members came together to celebrate our club. We had a club history quiz, looked back at old memorabilia of the club and just enjoyed sharing and reminiscing on the fun times shared with the Central Counties club. Thank you to everyone who made the effort to come to this event;  it was so lovely to see everyone come together, especially for such a small club like ours.

Date for the diary: Stock Judging Evening – kindly hosted by RR Barrett & Son on Friday 19th June 2020 at 7.30pm with master judge Simon Dowle.
