East Midlands Club - December News

After such a quiet time for 20months, it was so nice to meet up for our first stock judging at the end of July, kindly hosted by Barry and Helen Griffin at Toll Gate Farm, Cotes De Val, Lutterworth.  We just about managed to squeeze in both linear and stock judging on the same evening with guidance and advice from our master judge Phillip Oliver. After closing the evening with scrumptious refreshments, we vowed to meet the following week at the Thomas’ Model Farm, Kimcote for more linear and stock judging practice for our HYB members. A very informative evening was had with in-house direction and advice from Andrew Thomas and James Knight. Lovely refreshments of course followed all setting us up for the National Stock Judging Day hosted by the Shropshire Club on the 14th August. 

A great day was had at the National competition and with Frank Griffin gaining 3rd place in the Junior Linear and George Thomas 4th in the Intermediate Linear and Best Reasons in the stock judging. Frank and Mark Griffin gained 3rd place in the Junior Team Linear and Margaret and George Thomas 3rd place in the Intermediate Team Linear. Congratulations to everyone. 

On September 19th we had our Calf Show by kind permission of the Onion Family at Cricket Field Farm, Wysall. A smaller number of calves were presented this year but “the quality was great” quoted our master Judge Tom Hill. A wonderful day was had by all who attended and congratulations to all our young members and all the hard work that went into presenting the calves so well.
