Western Club News February 2019

The Club held a dinner to celebrate the results and awards from the 2018 Summer Herds Competition. A good crowd that gathered at The Farmers Arms heard an introduction by our Judge, Mr Edward Studley, and witness the presentationof awards by Mrs Gaynor Studley. Ivan, Judy & Richard Shepherd (Budworth) were congratulated as the winners of the Champion Herd 2018, whilst Anne Stones and family were thrilled to receive a number of awards for their Smeatonhallherd.

In the Chair at our AGM was President David Heasman, who gave a report of the clubs year to the audience of 35 members. The meeting was followed with a very informative talk by Tom Hill of the HydawaysHerd, who was President’s Medal winner in 2014.

Our 2018 programme began with the club’s annual dinner held at Trowbridge Rugby Club, Wiltshire, attended by 60 members and friends. Guests included the current HUK President and his wife, David and Beatrice Perry and Master Judge for our 2017 summer herd competitions, Tim Quick and wife Jane.

Border & Lakeland Club News February 2019

Border & Lakeland national calf show report Border & Lakeland HYB held their annual calf show on Sunday 30th September Borderway Mart Carlisle, this years show had a fantastic entry of 37 handlers and 60 calves competing under the watchful eye of our judge Mr. Michael Yates (Logan) who done a great job throughout the day. One of the highlights was the novice handler class with 12 entries the youngest being just 2yrs old. Robert Morley was tapped out as the Champion Handler with Will Horsley in Reserve and Mathew Williamson as Honorable Mention. The trophies for best turned out male and female handler was judged by the Senior Club President Mr Stephen Brough and his wife Annette and these were awarded to Mark Wharton and Anna Morley.

Northern Ireland Club News February 2019

Members of Holstein NI attended its 20th annual dinner and presentation of awards in Cookstown.Club chairman Jason Booth was delighted to see a good turn-out of members from across the Province and extended a warm welcome to Holstein UK President Peter Waring and his wife Judith, Irish Holstein Friesian Society President Peter Kennelly and his wife Eileen; and Holstein NI’s first President Wilbert Rankin.
