Autumn 2022 - South and Wiltshire

The South and Wiltshire Holstein Club has once again returned to a full calendar of events over the summer, we started with a herd visit to Hann Farming home to the Cedcott Herd to look at their new robot system.

This was followed by our annual club Stock Judging Competition kindly hosted by Club Chairman Nick Clarke at Westleaze Holsteins, Bushton. Master Judge was David Jones, a fantastic evening was had by all and the event was attended by over 50 members.

Senior HYB Winner – (joint) Katie Evans and Sarah Howie

Intermediate HYB Winner – George Woodward-May

Junior HYB Winner – Sky Elmes

 

Then in July we held our annual Summer Herds Competition which was judged by Mr Phil Bird – Bartonwwod Holsteins, after two days of judging the results were announced at our presentation evening which was kindly hosted by Ms L Birkbeck at Rookhaye Estate, Salisbury home to Rookhaye Holsteins.

Best Cow – Hinton Abbott Nella – Hinton Holsteins

Best Junior Heifer in Milk – Goldenball Bromley Joy – Stowell Farms

Best Mature Heifer in Milk – Boxbrook Callen Annette – A Gregory

Best in calf Heifer – Boxbrook Jordy Saint – A Gregory

Best Dry Cow – Hinton Fontaine Tripoli – Hinton Holsteins

Best Overall Herd - Champion – Hinton Holsteins – R Horton and Sons

  • Reserve – Eastknook Holsteins – S R Pottow
  • Hon Mention – Boxbrook Holsteins – A Gregory

Sadly, over the summer the club has lost two long standing members, Kevin Norman, herd manager at Hillvale Holsteins and Ian Miflin of Mayrain Holsteins, Marshfield Chippenham, both members will be missed by all within the South and Wiltshire Club.
