Autumn 2022 - East Midlands

July saw the judging of our Herds Competition by Mick Gould ,  resulting in Messers Winters of the Corringham Herd being put forward to the final of the Premier Herd Competition . Congratulations to the Winters Family and many thanks to Mick for sharing his expertise and time . The outstanding results from the Herds Competition will be announced at our annual presentation dinner . 
August saw our young members head off up to the HYB Rally hosted by the North Eastern Club in Durham . On our way up we were fortunate to be able to make an interesting visit to Metcalfe Farms at Washfold  to hear of their many enterprises including the Dairy Unit . Saturday was the National Stock Judging Competition held at the home of Belaw Holsteins , Picton . The sun shone and a great day of competition was had and a chance to look round the new inspiring Dairy Unit . 


Notable successes were achieved by Andrew Thomas who was awarded Best Senior Reasons and 4th Senior Stock Judging . George Thomas ,2nd Senior Stock Judging and Andrew and George achieving 2nd Senior Team in the Linear . Saturday night was fancy dress to the theme “A day at the Races “ A fun night . 
The Field to Photo competition was held at Darlington Auction Market and our small but very able team just missed being awarded a team certificate. George came 4th in the showmanship . Well done team East Midlands . Many thanks to the North Eastern Club and Holstein UK for a great weekend . 


Big congratulations go to the Birkle and Thomas Families who did themselves proud at the 2022 National Holstein Show . 
The Birkle Family achieving 1st Red and White Heifer in milk with Whinchat Artisan Melissa Red and awarded Best Red and White in Show . Whinchat Crushabull Flo bred by the Birkles but exhibited by Larchwood Holsteins came 3rd in the Senior 2yr old in milk . Whinchat Abbot Angela 2 was 6th in the Senior 3 yr old in milk . 


Wolston Undenied Roxy 2 was placed 1st in the Junior 2 yr old in milk for the Thomas Family ; as a younger heifer she won her class at our calf show last year and came 3rd in her class at the 2021 ABAB. Wolston Achieve Duchess 23 came 4th in the Senior 2yr old in milk . Congratulations. 


On September 18th our Calf Show was held by kind permission of the Onions Family at Cricket Field Farm , Wysall . Our judge was Tim Reece of the Dalebank Herd . A smaller number of calves than previous years were entered this year but the standard was high .

Well done to everyone who entered, a particular mention to our younger or least experienced members , Arthur and Ollie Knight and Will Moore for doing so well . Lots of admiration and acknowledgment for all the hard work that’s put in and many thanks to our judge Tim Reece for his encouraging and informative comments .
